Chelsea Cooper Leads Cross Country at Roberts Wesleyan

Freshman Chelsea Cooper (West Monroe, N.Y./ Altmar-Parish-Williamstown) finished as the top finisher for the Keuka College women's cross country team for the fourth straight meet as Keuka competed in Saturday's annual Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y.

Cooper placed 100th among scoring runners with a time of 21 minutes and 13 seconds on the 5 kilometer course as the Wolfpack scored 617 points to place 20th out of 23 teams.

St. Bonaventure's Kerry Caher won the individual title in a time of 17:34, more than 23 seconds faster than Rachel Prutsman (Roberts Wesleyan).

Cornell University placed four runners in the top seven and won the team title with a score of 32. Roberts Wesleyan (52) came in second place, followed by Laurentian (57), St. Bonaventure (139), St. Thomas Aquinas (188), Mercyhurst (222), SUNY Geneseo (242), Fredonia State (259), Oswego State (264), Daemen College (269), Cortland (327), William Smith (367), Gannon (403), LeMoyne (414) and SUNY ESF (420).

Molloy (425) finished 16th, followed by the University of Rochester (470), Penn State-Altoona (517), Brockport (556), Keuka College, Medaille (666), D'Youville College (704) and Hilbert College (735).

Freshman Mariah Sergent (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) was Keuka's second-fastest finisher, completing the course in 21:44 to place 116th among scoring runners.

Sophomore Paige Bennett (Athens, N.Y./Athens) was 131st after racing in 22:41, followed by junior Allison Bonin (Orwell, Pa./Northeast Bradford), who was 133rd with a time of 23:00.

Junior Lila Barbero (Rochester, N.Y./Mercy) rounded out Keuka's top five finishers, placing 137th after completing the course in 24:08.

The competition drew 268 runners from 25 schools.

The Green and Gold will next compete in the annual Cazenovia College Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 4.
