Four Runners Set Season-Bests at SUNYIT

Keuka College's women's cross country team traveled to Marcy, N.Y. to compete in the annual SUNYIT Wildcat Weekend Invitational, and the Storm placed 11th out of 17 teams Saturday on a picturesque fall day.

Freshman Victoria Grisdale (Hilton, NY/Hilton) took first among the Storm's student-athletes for the third straight meet.

In a field of 137 runners, Grisdale completed the 5K course in a time of 22 minutes and 17 seconds. Grisdale placed 27th among scoring runners as the Storm scored 274 points.

SUNY ESF won the team title, scoring 75 points. Wells (112) was second, followed by Paul Smith's College (136), Cazenovia (140), SUNY Cobleskill (141), Morrisville State (161), SUNY Canton (167), SUNY Potsdam (196), Penn State-Berks (248), Mohawk Valley Community College (267), Keuka, Bard (305), Herkimer CC (320), SUNYIT (347), Gallaudet (365), St. Elizabeth (402) and the Culinary Institute (443).

Grisdale was one of four Storm runners to set a season-best 5K time during the SUNYIT Invitational. Grisdale trimmed 1:05 off of her 5K time from the season-opening Oswego State Invitational.

For the second straight meet, sophomore Allison Bonin (Orwell, Pa./Northeast Bradford) was Keuka's second fastest runner, racing in 23:25 to place 39th among scoring runners.

Sophomore Caitlin Jones (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) finished 65th with a time of 25:40; sophomore Jennifer Vigo (Watervilet, NY/Shaker) was 67th in a time of 25:47; and junior Elizabeth Ryan (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) was 76th with a time of 26:42.

Jones sliced 38 seconds off her time from Oswego while Vigo improved by 39 seconds and Ryan reduced her time by 1:22.

After the SUNYIT Invitational, the Green and Gold will compete in the annual Cazenovia Invitational (Oct. 5) before closing with the annual CCOC Championships (Oct. 19) and the NEAC Championships (Nov. 2).
