St. John Fisher Rallies to Defeat Keuka College

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.  – The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team won the first set on Wednesday against St. John Fisher College, but the Cardinals came back to defeat Keuka 3-1.

The Wolves (10-7, 5-3 NEAC) return to North Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend. They travel to Gallaudet to face the Bison on Saturday and Wilson College on Sunday.

Jadine Buddingh and Lauren Moelbert each had six kills for the Wolves. Kate Burke led Keuka College with 16 digs and Kayla Brown had a career-high three service aces.

Keuka College got out to a fast start against St. John Fisher College on Wednesday. The Wolves won the first set 25-20 behind a seven point run in the middle of the set. Keuka then served out the final three points for the win.

The Cardinals did not back down. They opened the second set on a 10-2 run and led by as many as 15 points in the set. The Wolves got a late run of seven points, but it was not enough as they fell in the second set 25-15, leveling the match at 1-1.

The Green and Gold's attack let them down in the third set. Keuka had 10 errors in the set with just four kills. Conversely, St. John Fisher had nine kills and just two errors on their way to the 25-13 set victory.

The fourth set followed the same pattern with the Cardinals hitting .368 in the set and the Wolves hit -.130. Overall, Keuka hit -.056 in the match, their first time this season with more errors than kills. St. John Fisher won the fourth set 25-13, taking the match 3-1.
