KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team won the final two sets to defeat Alfred University 3-2 on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup.
The Wolves (10-6, 5-3 NEAC) have a week off before another weeknight non-conference match. Keuka College will host St. John Fisher on Wednesday, October 12 at 7pm.
Meghan Calhoun led the Green and Gold a career-high 18 kills. Lauren Moelbert and Rachel Elliot were also in double-digits in kills with 13 and 11, respectively. The offense flowed through Alyssa Rex, who finished with 47 assists. Libero Kate Burke had a match-high 18 digs.
The Wolves jumped out to a fast lead over the Saxons. Keuka led by as many as 14 points in the first set on their way to the 25-14 victory.
It was looking like an easy match for Keuka. The Green and Gold led by eight points in the second before Alfred mounted a comeback. They would narrow the deficit and then convert the final four points to win the second set 26-24.
Alfred University took that momentum and won the third set 25-19, taking a 2-1 lead in the match.
In the fourth set, the Wolves remained ahead most of the set. They won 10 of the final 12 points to take the set 25-14 and force a fifth and deciding set.
The Wolves scored the first three points for the early lead in the fifth set. A kill by Rachel Elliot forced the changeover at 8-4. The Wolves remained ahead and a kill by Calhoun sealed the fifth set 15-7, giving Keuka the 3-2 victory over Alfred.
