Wolves Defeat Wildcats in Women’s Volleyball

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.  – The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team defeated Penn College on Friday night in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.

The Wolves (6-3, 3-1 NEAC) will next face Penn St.-Berks and Lancaster Bible College on Saturday at Keuka College.

Meghan Calhoun led Keuka College with 10 kills in the match. Kate Warren finished with seven kills in just 10 attempts, without an error, for a 0.700 hitting percentage. Tally McDonald also added seven kills in the win. Alyssa Rex had 31 assists in the match and Kate Burke led Keuka with 17 digs.

Keuka College and Penn College began the match evenly as both teams settled into the match. The Wildcats went on a three point run to tie the set at 16-16. The Wolves would outscore Penn 9-2, capped by a kill by Jadine Buddingh, to win the first set 25-18.

The Wolves pressed the Wildcats in the second, jumping out to a large lead early. The Green and Gold led 15-5 in the set. Keuka could continue on to the comfortable 25-11 set two victory.

Penn College would not go away without a fight. The third set began back and forth. Keuka began to grow its lead, leading by as many as eight points in the set. Penn College began to get back into the third set. They scored six straight points to narrow Keuka's lead to one, 21-22. The Wolves would get kills by Brittany Vergason and Kate Warren, followed by an ace by Kate Burke to secure the 25-21 third set victory, winning the match 3-0.
