MARCY, N.Y. -- The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team, the fifth seed in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament, defeated the fourth seed Penn St.-Berks in straight sets on Friday night.
Keuka (12-16, 8-4 NEAC) has now won nine straight matches against NEAC opponents, dating back to October 3. In that run, Keuka has not dropped a set.
The Green and Gold advance to the NEAC Semi-Finals on Saturday against the top seed and hosts, SUNY Poly. Keuka upset the Wildcats in straight sets over Green and Gold Celebration Weekend earlier this season.
Friday's match with the Nittany Lions was close throughout. Keuka took the opening set 25-23. The set was tied at 22-22, but the Green and Gold took three of the final four points for the win. Keuka found themselves in control of the second set. They led by as many as eight points. A kill by Jadine Buddingh ended the second set and gave Keuka the 25-20 victory. Penn State did not go away and held a lead for most of the third set. Keuka rallied to tie the match up at 19-19. The Green and Gold took the final six points to close out the match three sets to none.
Keuka doubled up Penn St.-Berks in kills in the match. The Green and Gold hit 44 balls home, while the Nittany Lions only had 22. Freshman Lauren Moelbert led Keuka with 11 kills. Meghan Calhoun finished with nine and Jadine Buddingh added eight in the win. Alyssa Rex continued her strong play as of late with 23 assists. She also led Keuka with 15 digs, earning her fifth double-double of the season.
