The Keuka College women's volleyball team swept Alfred University in three sets Wednesday in a non-conference clash inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.
Freshman Jadine Buddingh (Hamilton, Ont./Mere Theresa) equaled her career-high with seven kills, and senior Devan Curtis (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) added 20 digs with six kills as the Wolfpack (9-11) prevailed by scores of 25-13, 25-23 and 25-22.
It was Curtis' third match with 20 or more digs this year, and she added three aces, while senior Danielle Alred (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) tallied 6 kills with 2 aces and 2 digs, and freshman Katelyn Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) had five kills with four blocks in the sweep. Warren hit .308 after compiling only one error in 13 attacks.
Senior Rachel Parker (Chaumont, N.Y./Thousand Islands) added 14 assists with 8 digs and 3 aces, sophomore Kaitlin Burke (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West) added 12 digs, and classmate Alissa Walruth (Hammondsport, N.Y./Hammondsport) had seven digs with two aces in the win.
The Wolfpack recorded 11 aces and hit .169 as a team, while holding Alfred (4-21) to a -.020 hitting percentage.
After winning the first set, Keuka fell behind 21-15 in the second set before Walruth served up five straight points to close the gap to 21-20.
An ace from Walruth gave the Wolfpack a 22-21 lead, but Alfred won the next two to seize a 23-22 lead. But Curtis had a kill and Alred hammered home an ace to close out the second, and the Green and Gold went on to complete the sweep.
The Wolfpack travel to Penn State-Berks this weekend for the third and final North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover of the season. Keuka (7-0 NEAC) is tied with Gallaudet for first-place in the NEAC.
The Green and Gold will play Bryn Athyn (Pa.) and host Berks Saturday, and Gallaudet and Penn College on Sunday.
