KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Soccer team fell on Wednesday evening to Alfred University 2-1 at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex

Keuka College had some early chances in the opening minutes as forward Emily McGuigan was able to slip behind the Saxon defense. The first attempt she had was saved and minutes later, the goalie charged and beat her to the loose ball. Alfred took the lead in the 28th minute on a shot from 20 yards out that got over the leaping Kosinski and beneath the crossbar. They carried that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, Keuka was able to level it up at 1-1. In the 55th minute, Kelsey Maurer took the ball down the left side and slid it to McGuigan running down the middle. McGuigan beat the keeper for her second goal of the season, tying the match. However in the 82 minutes, a long free kick by Alfred rattled off the crossbar and dropped into the six yard box. In the scramble, Kosinski was able to make one save but the rebound fell to the Saxons as they scored to take the 2-1 lead. Keuka pressured Alfred in the final minutes but were unable to get the equalizer as they fell to the Saxons 2-1 on Wednesday.
- The Saxons extended their unbeaten streak over the Wolves to eight matches. Overall, Alfred has a 7-5-4 lead in the series
- The assist was Maurer's second of the season. Both have come on Emily McGuigan goals
- Kenna Kosinski made the start in goal for Keuka College. It was the senior's first action after missing the entire 2016 season due to injury.
Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves travel to Lycoming College on Sunday to face the Warriors. Keuka College last faced Lycoming in the 2000 season. Keuka earned a 1-0 overtime victory in that meeting. Overall, the Green and Gold is 5-0 against the Warriors.
