GANSEVOORT, N.Y. — Keuka College senior Jariah Johnson was named North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Johnson and the Wolves opened the 2018-19 season last Thursday with a 19-point victory at Medaille College. In the game, Johnson had 12 points and six rebounds for the Wolves. She upped her game on the week at the Emerson College Tournament. Johnson set new career-highs with 21 points and 12 rebounds against UMass-Boston for her first career double-double. She then quickly tallied her second with a 17 point, 20 rebound performance in a win over Dean College. Johnson also tied the Keuka College record with seven blocks against the Bulldogs. For her efforts over the weekend, Johnson was named to the All-Tournament Team.
In the young season, Johnson is already among the league leaders in the NEAC. She is sixth with 16.7 points per game and second with 12.7 rebounds per game. The senior leads the conference in blocks and has the third-best field goal percentage in the league.
The Keuka College Women's Basketball team has some time off for Thanksgiving. The Wolves will return to the floor following the break with a pair of home games against Empire 8 opponents. Keuka College will host St. John Fisher College on Tuesday, November 27 and then host Nazareth College two days later on Thursday, November 29.
