GANSEVOORT, N.Y. — For the second week in a row, Keuka College sophomore Whitney Tyler was named North Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.
The sophomore pitcher opened the week with a non-conference game against Houghton College. The Wolves and the Highlanders took the game to extra innings scoreless. Tyler threw the complete game for the Wolves where the only run allowed was the runner placed on second for the international tie-break to start the eighth inning.
Tyler then followed that up with a two-hit, career-best-tying eight strikeout performance in a five-inning victory over Wells College, shutting out the Express. Over the weekend, Whitney Tyler continued her strong play as she threw the second no-hitter of her career. The sophomore did not allow a hit in a five-inning victory over SUNY Poly in the first NEAC doubleheader of the spring season.
On the season, Whitney Tyler is leading the North Eastern Athletic Conference with two shutouts and a 1.24 earned run average. Tyler also ranks sixth in the NEAC with 27 strikeouts this season.
The Wolves will continue their season on Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Alfred University. Keuka will then take to the road this weekend for a tough test in Pennsylvania as they face Penn St.-Berks and Penn St.-Abington in a pair of conference doubleheaders.
