GANSEVOORT, N.Y.— Freshman Jessie Hammers from the Keuka College Softball team was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Softball Player of the Week on Monday.
The Wolves pushed their winning streak to 12 games by going a perfect 8-0 last week with all games coming within the North Easter Athletic Conference. Hammers recorded 17 hits over those eight games and scored at least one run in each game as well. Overall, she posted a .654 batting average and had a .700 on-base percentage.
Jessie Hammers leads the North Eastern Athletic Conference with a .542 batting average this season. She also leads with 27 stolen bases for the Wolves. Hammers ranks fifth in the nation in batting average and 10th in on-base percentage.
Hammers is currently tied for second for the most hits in a season at Keuka College. She ranks third in stolen bases in a season and in the top five of other categories.
The Wolves conclude the regular season today with a home doubleheader against Alfred University. The Green and Gold will then turn their focus to defending their NEAC Championship. The Wolves earned the top seed in the North Division. The conference tournament will start on Friday at Penn St.-Berks.
