COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team won a pair of games at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday afternoon.
Keuka College (15-9, 13-1 NEAC) won Game 1 by the score of 9-2 and won Game 2 15-1 in five innings.
Samantha Blum had four hits on the day for Keuka College. Freshman Brittany Vergason had three hits on the day and drove in three runs for the Wolves. Alexa Brown added three hits and three runs scored on the day as Keuka College totaled 24 runs and 26 hits in the sweep.
Keuka College 9 at SUNY Cobleskill 2
The Wolves took advantage of a Fighting Tiger error to take a 1-0 lead on Saturday, but the Wolves offense wouldn't add to the lead. SUNY Cobleskill scored one in the bottom of the sixth as the game would go to the final inning tied at 1-1. Keuka College's offense erupted in the top of the seventh. The Wolves sent 12 batters to the plate in the inning. They used four walks, two singles, and three doubles to plate eight runs in the frame. SUNY Cobleskill scored one in the bottom of the inning, but Keuka College would win the opening game of the doubleheader over the Fighting Tigers.
Lead Wolves: In the seventh inning, Keuka College had three RBI doubles. Tally McDonald started it off with an RBI double. That was followed by Brittany Vergason with a two-run double. A double by Maddie Dupuis scored two runs for the Green and Gold on in Game 1.
Keuka College 15 at SUNY Cobleskill 1 – 5 innings
The Wolves opened Game 2 strong, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. SUNY Cobleskill scored an unearned run in the bottom of the inning, but Keuka quickly responded in the second. Three RBI hits and a run on the error gave the Wolves four in the second as they led 9-1 after two innings. The Wolves continued to extend their lead with two runs in the third and four in the fifth. The big hit in the fifth came in the form of a two-run triple by Christy Orlando, the first triple of her career, as Keuka College continued onto the 15-1 victory in five innings.
Lead Wolf: Samantha Blum was one of five players to record multi-hit games in the win. Blum, however, led Keuka College with five total bases in the game. The senior had a double and a triple in the win. She also drove in a pair of runs and scored two runs for the Wovles.

Coming up for Keuka College: Saturday was the start of three straight days of NEAC road doubleheaders for the Keuka College Softball team. The Wolves will play at SUNY Poly on Sunday and then travel to Williamsport, Pa. for two games with Penn College on Monday.
