Freshman Samantha Blum (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie) hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the top of the seventh inning as the Keuka College softball team took the opener of Friday's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader with SUNYIT, rallying from a 3-1 deficit to win 6-3.

The Storm (12-6, 12-2 NEAC) saw their 11-game win streak snapped in the nightcap as the Wildcats (13-13, 11-3) earned a split with an 8-0, five-inning win.

Keuka College still holds a slight lead over both IT and SUNY Cobleskill (15-7, 13-3 NEAC) in the race for the NEAC North championship.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the seventh of the opener, sophomore Liz Warren (Elmira Heights, NY/Thomas A. Edison) hit a one-out single to give the Storm life.

Senior Deliane Lessard (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) trimmed the deficit to one with an RBI single into right field, and Blum put the Green and Gold up 4-3 on her two-run double to the gap in left-center field.

Sophomore Ally Muller (Bath, NY/Haverling) then belted a two-run home run over the right field fence for a 6-3 lead.

SUNYIT put runners on first and second with no outs, but senior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) buckled down and got a fly out, a pop out and a groundout to end the game.

Gravel improved to 6-3 after allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits in the complete-game win.

Muller finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, Blum was 1-for-4 with two RBI and rwo runs scored and senior Jill Hart (Cowlesville, NY/Iroquois) and sophomore Mackenzie Cole (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg Free Academy) each tripled in the win.

IT led 3-0 heading into the top of the fourth before the Storm broke through. Muller plated Blum on an RBI single in the infield to cut the deficit to 3-1, and neither school scored again until the Storm's late-game heroics.

In the nightcap, Jessica Patterelli was 2-for-3 with four RBI, including a three-run home run, as SUNYIT won in five innings via the mercy rule.

The Wildcats struck for three runs in the first on Patterelli's home run, added a run in the second and scored two runs in both the third and fourth innings to take an 8-0 lead.

Keuka College managed just five hits off of IT starter Fallon Reinold, who improved to 8-3 after striking out five with no walks in the complete-game win.

Lessard, Blum, Muller and sophomore Jessica Parmiter (Cortland, NY/Homer) each had singles, but the Storm were outhit 12-5.

The Storm host SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon and SUNYIT at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon in a pair of critical NEAC North doubleheaders before closing out the regular season on the road against Cazenovia College Tuesday.
