Senior Alex Pollinger (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) shattered his previous collegiate personal best for an 8 kilometer race for the Keuka College men's cross country team during Saturday's Houghton College Highlander Invitational.
Pollinger completed the 8K course in a time of 29 minutes and 16 seconds, crushing his previous personal best time by a full 50 seconds.
Pollinger placed 15th among scoring runners for Keuka, who didn't factor into the team scoring due to only having four runners compete and finish the competition.
Alfred State won the team title, placing all five scoring runners in the top seven and finishing with 24 points. Roberts Wesleyan was second with 65 points, followed by Alfred University (72), host Houghton (113), Bryant & Stratton College (133), Finger Lakes Community College (136) and the University of Pitt-Bradford (173).
Freshman Cliff Stevens (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) was the Green and Gold's second-fastest finisher, completing the course in 33:52. Freshman Michael Desimone (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Odyssey) ran in 37:36, while freshman Trevor Alton (Hannibal, N.Y./Hannibal) raced in 39:05.
The competition featured 58 runners from eight schools.
Keuka will next compete in the annual Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan College, Saturday, Sept. 27.
