ELMIRA, N.Y. – Keuka College Men's Volleyball team won the final three sets to defeat the Wells College Express 3-1 on Wednesday night in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup.
Keuka College (14-10, 9-6 NEAC) will conclude their 2016 regular season a week from Saturday as they play at North Eastern Athletic Conference opponent SUNY Poly.
The Soaring Eagles got out to a fast start against Keuka. Connor Hinman got his first kill of the match to narrow the margin to two, 9-7, but took the next three points to widen the gap. Back-to-back blocks by Keuka drew it back to a 15-13 game. Elmira College would not relinquish the lead and continued onto the 25-20 victory in the first set.
Keuka College responded in the second set. They took the lead at 2-1 and would not surrender it the rest of the set. They led by as many as four points in the set. The Soaring Eagles were able to draw the set level, but were never able to overtake the lead. Connor Hinman had the kill to give Keuka the 25-22 second set win, leveling the match at 1-1.
Elmira responded with a strong third set. They had 12 kills in the set and Keuka had eight errors. The Soaring Eagles won the third set 25-16, taking a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Soaring Eagles found themselves ahead in the fourth set. Tim Jackson had a kill for Keuka and on the next play, Connor Gail and Josh Makin had a block to make it 12-9 Elmira. Keuka would draw the margin to three points again, at 18-15, but it would be as close as they get as Elmira would win the set 25-18 and the match 3-1.
