KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Volleyball won both of their matches on Saturday as a part of the Keuka Restaurant Tournament at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Keuka first defeated Penn St.-Behrend in straight sets to open the day. They then closed the day with an exciting five-set victory over Daniel Webster College.
The Green and Gold will conclude the tournament on Sunday, hosting Purchase College at noon.
Connor Hinman led Keuka with 14 kills. The senior only committed five errors, hitting .310 for the match. Cooper Lyon had a match-high 17 digs in the win. Helping to facilitate the offense for Keuka was Spencer Avery and Chris Corcoran. Avery led the team with 20 assists and Corcoran finished with 16.
The first set against Daniel Webster was very even. The two teams traded points most of the set. Keuka eventually pulled it out 28-26. The Eagles quickly responded in the second, taking the set 25-17. The Green and Gold continued the back and forth nature of the match. They recorded 16 kills in the third on their way to the 25-22 victory. Once again, Daniel Webster was resilient and answered Keuka with a set win in the fourth, 25-20, leading to a deciding fifth set. As with the rest of the match, the final frame was played close. An attack by Daniel Webster sailed long at the end to give Keuka a 15-13 set victory, taking the match 3-2.
Hinman once again shined in the match. The senior from Canada recorded 23 kills, finishing just one shy of his own school record that he set last season. Spencer Avery had a double-double in the match with 26 assists and 10 digs. Cooper Lyon led Keuka with 14 digs and Chris Corcoran added 26 assists of his own.
Aaron Brill set a new career-high with 19 kills in the match. Overall, Keuka recorded 61 kills, setting a new school record for most by the team in a match. As a team, Keuka previously recorded 58 kills in multiple matches over the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
