GREENWOOD, Ind. — Keuka College junior Jared Burns from the men's soccer team was selected as Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The honor is a part of CoSIDA's Academic All-America program. District 3 consists of all the Division III schools in New York State. To be eligible, the student-athlete needs to be at least in their second year on campus with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or above. Burns will now continue onto the national ballot to be named Academic All-America.
Jared Burns has helped lead the Keuka College attack this year. The junior has scored three goals and added four assists on the campaign. In the classroom, Burns has a 3.80 grade point average while majoring in Management, concentrating in Sports Management. He was twice named a North Eastern Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete and is the vice-president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Burns is the second Keuka College Men's Soccer player to be named Academic All-District. He joins Ben Schreiber who was selected in 2015. Schreiber then went on to be named Third Team Academic All-American.
Burns and the Keuka College Men's Soccer team will continue in the postseason this weekend. The Wolves will face Penn St.-Abington on Saturday in the conference semi-finals.
