Men’s Soccer Upends Alfred University 3-1

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Soccer team won on Saturday afternoon 3-1 against Alfred University at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Keuka College (1-3, 0-0 NEAC) got goals from Mike Celestino in the first half and Chris Millard and Rohel Duncan in the second half. Christopher Spaulding had 4 saves to earn the win.

Alfred University had some attempts in the opening minutes, but they were unable to break through. Instead, it was the Wolves who struck first in the 11th minute. Sean Pasono got the ball to Mike Celestino on the left side. Celestino let a shot that just crossed the line, giving Keuka a 1-0 lead. The Wolves carried that lead into halftime.

The Saxons converted on a corner kick in the 55th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Alfred continued to put the pressure on the Wolves goal, but they were unable to take the lead. In the 77th minute, a perfectly executed cross from the right side from Jared Burns to Chris Millard put Keuka ahead 2-1. 1:26 later, Claude Tuyishimire sent a ball behind the Saxons back line and found Rohel Duncan running down the left side. Duncan slotted it home for the goal, giving Keuka College the 3-1 lead, securing the victory.

  • The win was Keuka College sixth all-time against Alfred University. The Saxons continue to hold the series with the Wolves at 10-6-3
  • Saturday was a season-high for shots and corner kicks for Keuka College
