Keuka College Falls to RIT in Men’s Soccer

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Soccer team was defeated by RIT 6-1 on Thursday night at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Keuka College (0-3, 0-0 NEAC) got its lone goal from freshman Jared Burns.

In the first half, the Tigers struck early in the second minute for the 1-0 lead. They would go on to add three more in the half and lead 4-0 at the half.

In the opening minute of the second half, Joshua Card sent a curling free kick into the box. Mike Celestino headed it on to the back post and Claude Tuyishimire slid to hit it home. However the Wolves were whistled for offsides and the goal was disallowed. RIT would go on to extend their lead to 6-0 before freshman Jared Burns scored in the 74th minute to make it 6-1.

  • The Wolves remain winless against the Tigers. RIT has won all six meetings with Keuka College
  • Jared Burns' goal was the first of his career
  • His tally was Keuka College's first goal against RIT since the 2001 season
  • Goalies Ryan Mavretish, Ryan Velte, and Christopher Loucks all saw their first action in goal in their collegiate careers

Coming up for Keuka College: On Saturday September 9, Keuka will face off against Alfred University at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex at 3pm. The Saxons won the last meeting between the two teams in 2014 and hold a 10-5-3 advantage in the all-time series, dating back to 1995.
