Wolves Fall to Nittany Lions in Men’s Soccer

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Soccer team lost on Sunday to Penn St.-Abington by the score of 2-1 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game.

Keuka College (9-3-3, 7-2-3 NEAC) will play their final regular season game next Saturday, hosting Cazenovia College at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Paulin Kolodja scored the lone goal for the Wolves off of a free kick.

In the first minutes of play, Keuka College applied the early pressure. Rachid Blanken let a long shot go that sailed just wide of goal. Minutes later, a long cross from Christian Cupello found Paulin Kolodja in the box. The goalie charged, and Kolodja's shot slid just wide. The pressure continued as Kolodja had another good chance where his first attempt was saved and second went off the post and out as the game remained scoreless early. In the 23rd minute, Abington put together a rush against the run of play. Off of a cross and a pass, the ball was loose in the six yard box and hit home for the 1-0 lead. The Nittany Lions took control of the half, controlling possession in Keuka's end. With under a minute left, they converted on a penalty kick to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

The second half was a physical contest with both teams battling for possession of the ball. The Wolves nearly scored in the 59th minute. Following a corner kick by Kolodja, Rachid Blaken was able to get an off-balance volley towards goal. The keeper for Abington leaped to tip the ball off the crossbar before it was cleared out. Keuka College got on the board in the 84th minute. The Wolves had a quick attack forming before being pulled down just outside of the box for a yellow card. Paulin Kolodja took the free kick in the middle of the field, 20 yards out. He sent his right footed shot to the left side of the goal and in to make it 2-1. Keuka was unable, however, to get the equalizer, as they would lose to Penn St.-Abington 2-1.
