MARCY, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Soccer team earned their first conference win of the season in defeating SUNY Poly 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Keuka College (3-1-1, 1-0-1 NEAC) return home to the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Sunday as they host the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers at 3pm.
Keuka College set the tone and struck early against the Wildcats of SUNY Poly. Edler de Castro set up Rohel Duncan for the opening goal of the game in the 6th minute. The Wolves continued to threaten the goal, but were unable to add to their lead. SUNY Poly leveled the game at 1-1 in the 22nd minute. The two teams would close out the first half with the game remaining tied at 1-1.
The Wolves struck immediately in the second half. Taking the opening kickoff, Keuka beat the initial defender from SUNY Poly and drove down on goal. Rachid Blanken scored 17 seconds into the second half for the Green and Gold to make it 2-1. Just over 10 minutes later, the lead would grow for Keuka as Edler de Castro found the back of the net for the 3-1 advantage. A penalty kick by the Wildcats made it a one-goal game, but Keuka College would hold on for the 3-2 conference victory.
