Men’s Soccer Falls to Wells 2-1 in Semi-Finals

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Soccer team fell to Wells College 2-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Semi-Finals on Saturday at Morrisville State College.

Keuka finishes the season with a 12-3-3 record. The 12 wins ties a school record. Their 11-0-2 start was the best in school history. They also posted the second best winning percentage in school history.

The Green and Gold got on the board first on Saturday. They got a goal on an own goal by Wells in the 12th minute following a corner kick by Paulin Kolodja. The two teams would balance possession for the remainder of the first half. Keuka pressured the Express net in the dying minutes of the half. They had three corner kicks in the final minutes, but were unable to get a second goal as the game went to halftime with Keuka leading 1-0.

The second half played much like the first with the two teams fighting for the ball. Both teams were able to get opportunities and corner kicks, but all the shots were saved or wide of frame. Wells would break through in the 72nd minute, hitting a rebound off the post home to tie the game at 1-1. With 3:17 left to play in regulation, a Wells forward got free in the box and put a shot into the top right corner to give the Express a 2-1 lead. They would play the final minutes out to maintain their lead and defeat Keuka College.

Leandro Curran led the Green and Gold with four shots in the game. Overall, Keuka had 13 shots in the game compared to Wells' 11. Senior goalie Preston Vick made four saves for Keuka.
