KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Soccer team defeated Penn College by the score of 1-0 on Saturday in an North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup.

Edler de Castro scored with nine minutes left to play to give Keuka the 1-0 lead. Preston Vick made a pair of saves to earn the shutout.

Keuka College (9-0-2, 6-0-1) will be back at home next weekend as a part of Green and Gold Weekend at Keuka College. They will host SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday and SUNY Poly on Sunday with both games being played at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

The Green and Gold controlled the run of play for most of the first half. They got their best opportunity in the first half on a penalty kick. The keeper for the Wildcats guessed correctly and corralled the rebound, however, to keep the game scoreless. Keuka College outshot Penn 14-1 in the opening half, but the game would go to halftime scoreless.

The second half played much like the first, with Keuka controlling possession. They once again outshot Penn 13-2 in the period. The Green and Gold had quality attempts throughout the half, but each attempt either slid wide or was gathered by the goalie. Keuka College got the decisive strike in the 81st minute. A loss ball found the foot of Edler de Castro on the top of the goal box. He let a powerful shot skipping along the turf. The ball got through the keeper's arms and into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. The Keuka College defense would not allow a shot for the remaining nine minutes of play as they held on to the 1-0 shutout victory.
