KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Freshman Rohel Duncan scored his first collegiate goal and Ben Schreiber added a tally to lead Keuka College to its first victory of the season, defeating D'Youville College 2-0 on Saturday.
Duncan had the goal come in his first career start. Schreiber netted his second in as many games. Noah Titus and Rachin Blanken got the assists on the goals. Preston Vick had to make only one save in the game for the shutout.
The Green and Gold will remain at home this Wednesday as they take on the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College. Kickoff from the Jephson Community Athletic Complex is set for 7pm.
Keuka College controlled play most of the first half. Senior Ben Schreiber was able to get loose twice in the half for Keuka's best scoring opportunities. Edler de Castro found Schreiber on a long ball. Schreiber's shot was stopped, but the rebound bounced towards Leandro Curran. Curran's volley clipped the post and rolled wide. Later in the half, Paulin Kolodja found Schreiber streaking down the left side. The shot from a sharp angle beat the keeper but slid across the goalmouth and wide. The two teams went into the halftime break tied 0-0.
Keuka retained the ball and continued to control possession in the second half. Keuka pressured in the 58th minute when Leandro Curran found Blanken at the top of the box. Blanken's attempt was turned away however. They finally broke through minutes later. In the 62nd minute, Noah Titus sent a long, low crossing pass back into the box. The ball bounced around and found the foot of Duncan who keep the keeper high for the 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, Blanken would find Ben Schreiber at the top of the box. His quick shot beat the goalie and slid into the right side of the net for a 2-0 advantage. The Green and Gold remained in control of the game until the final whistle, earning the 2-0 victory.
