Men's Soccer Can't Rally Past Caz

Sophomore Joe Maier (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) scored the first goal of his Keuka College career, but the Storm's men's soccer team couldn't overcome a 2-0 deficit and fell at Cazenovia College 2-1 Saturday afternoon.

Maier, a midfielder/defender who transferred to Keuka Park after attending Monroe Community College, received a well-placed corner kick from freshman Leandro Curran (New York, NY/Westlake) and converted in the 80th minute to pull the Storm (2-3-1, 0-2 NEAC) within one, but the Green and Gold couldn't come up with the equalizer.

Neither team scored in the first half as sophomore Preston Vick (Kendall, NY/Kendall) turned away three shots to keep the Storm in the game. But the Wildcats (2-4, 2-0 NEAC) scored in the 48th minute and extended the lead to 2-0 in the 73rd minute and held on to remain undefeated in conference play.

The Storm held a 14-11 edge in shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

Vick finished with four saves for the Green and Gold, who travel to Alfred State for a 5 p.m. non-conference clash Thursday afternoon.
