KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team defeated North Eastern Athletic Conference-leading Morrisville State College 10-5 on Saturday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Keuka College (7-5, 5-2) had freshmen Mark Shattuck and Craig Gerhardt team up for three goals each in the win. Matt Mahalick scored a goal and added two assists in the win. The senior also won nine faceoffs for Keuka College. In goal for the Wolves was freshman Ryan Mavretish. The freshman made 12 saves in the win.
Keuka College 10 vs. Morrisville State College 5
Morrisville State scored the opening goal 1:11 into the game, but the Wolves had a response. Craig Gerhardt scored for the Wolves halfway through the first quarter. That would be it in the frame as the Wolves and Mustangs were tied 1-1 after the first quarter. The two teams traded goals in the start of the second, but then the Wolves would take control. Keuka scored three straight to lead 5-2 going into halftime. The Wolves added to their lead in the third. Marco Carney, Andrew Burns, and Craig Gerhardt scored for the Wolves in the frame. Mavretish shutout the Mustangs in the quarter as Keuka led 8-2 after three quarters of play. In the fourth, Morrisville attempted to get back into the game. They scored two straight to open the quarter, making the margin four, 8-4. However the Wolves had the answer with two more goals to push their lead back out. Keuka College continued onto the 10-5 victory.
Hustle Balls: Keuka College worked hard for the loose balls all game. Keuka had a 33-20 advantage in groundballs in the game, including leading 22-7 at the half. Matt Mahalick led the team with seven groundballs. Overall, 15 of the 17 players in the game for Keuka College collected at least one groundball.
- Keuka College snapped a four-game losing streak to Morrisville State. The Wolves hold a 9-7 advantage in the series.
- Although Keuka owns the overall series, Morrisville State still leads 5-3 in North Eastern Athletic Conference regular season games
- Mahalick's seven groundballs in the game gives him 221 in his career. The senior is in a tie with Zachary Koczent '14 for the Keuka College career record

Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves finish the 2017 regular season on Wednesday as they travel to Wells College to face the Express. Keuka College defeated Wells 17-2 last season and have a 9-0 series advantage over the Express.
