KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team lost to Morrisville State College 14-7 on Saturday in a North Eastern Athletic Conference showdown between the conference's top two teams.
Keuka College (9-2, 5-1 NEAC) will travel to Hilbert College on Wednesday before returning home next Saturday to face SUNY Poly in the final game of the regular season.
Morrisville got on the board first five minutes into the game, but Keuka had an answer less than a minute later. Brendan King set up Ryan Waldron on the man-up for the goal, leveling the game at 1-1. Morrisville State took a 3-1 lead over Keuka. On the faceoff following the Mustangs' third goal, Jake Altman won the faceoff, streaked down the field and scored his first career goal. The tally came just eight seconds after Morrisville's goal. The Mustangs had an answer and led 4-2 after the first quarter.
Morrisville State shutout Keuka in the second quarter while adding four goals to their lead. The Mustangs led 8-2 at the half.
The third quarter saw five goals, all coming in man-up situations. Keuka was the beneficiary of three of the goals with Matt Beebe netting a pair and Sam Cooper adding one, but Morrisville State continued to lead 10-5 going into the final quarter.
The Green and Gold netted a pair of goals in the fourth, but they would never get the margin lower than five goals as they would fall to Morrisville State on Saturday afternoon 14-7.
