The Keuka College Men's Basketball team opens the 2019-20 season this weekend playing in a tournament at Wells College. The Wolves will face Cabrini University on Saturday and Hiram College on Sunday.
Keuka College is coming off of a 9-14 season in which they finished 6-10 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. During the campaign, the team averaged 70.7 points per game in which they had a 43.2 field goal percentage and shot just over 30% from beyond the arc.
Returning for the Wolves this season after averaging 12 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game is James Barnes. The junior was a key component of the Wolves offense last season and will be leaned upon again this season. Keuka College will also be returning sophomore Achraf Sadouk who played in 22 of 23 games for the Wolves last season, averaging just under 6 points per game as a freshman.
Despite losing key contributors in Trevor Powell, Ryder Mansfield, and Sam Brown to graduation, the Wolves have brought back many key pieces to their offense and have plenty of fire power in their large freshmen class. The freshman class will make up more than half of the roster this season with eight of the 15 men representing the Class of 2023. Keuka College spanned the country in building their incoming class as the Wolves have five different states represented including New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Texas, and Louisiana. Also joining the Wolves roster this year is a junior college transfer from Jefferson Community College, Elijah Smalls. Smalls posted four 20+ point games while averaging just under 8 points per game as a sophomore at JCC.
Keuka will play their home opener on Saturday, November 16 when they host Pitt-Bradford in a non-conference matchup on David M. Sweet Court. In total, the month of November includes five non-conference games for the Wolves. Following Thanksgiving, Keuka College will have a tough matchup against the University of Rochester in the Holiday Inn Rochester Downtown Tournament on November 30.
The Wolves will begin North Eastern Athletic Conference play on their home floor as Keuka hosts Penn St.-Abington on Saturday, December 7. Keuka will return from the holiday break with a home non-conference game against Alfred University on January 6. It will be the final non-conference game of the year. The final stretch of conference games will close on Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22 as the Wolves host Penn College and Penn St.-Berks.
