Wells Tops Keuka College 78-68

AURORA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Thursday at Wells College by the score of 78-68.

Keuka College (4-4, 1-1 NEAC) was led by the fourth double-double by Ryder Mansfield. The senior forward had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Wolves. Also in double figures for Keuka College was Trevor Powell with 13, while James Barnes and David Oliveras each had 12 points.

The Green and Gold took an early 7-5 lead over the Express as David Oliveras raced the ball down the court and found Sam Brown in the corner for a three. The Express responded with a pull-up three to regain the lead and played with the lead for the next 10 minutes in the first half. The Wolves fought back. Achraf Sadouk hit a corner three off of an inbounds play and Ryder Mansfield followed it with a baseline jumper as the Wolves took a 22-21 lead with five minutes left in the half. Wells regained the lead. James Barnes made a basket with 22 seconds left in the half to cut the margin to one, 29-28. In the final seconds, DJ Billings stole the ball, Trevor Powell took it down the floor and found James Barnes for the layup at the buzzer as Keuka took a 30-29 halftime lead over Wells.

Keuka College came out of the locker room fast as the Wolves scored the first eight points of the second half to take a 38-29 lead, forcing Wells into a timeout with 18 minutes left in regulation. Wells fought to stay in the game. Back-to-back threes by the Express with 14 minutes left gave Wells a 47-45 lead over the Wolves. Wells continued to lead going into the final minutes of regulation. Keuka College would cut the lead to one with six minutes left, but the Express would extend their lead to double-digits with under two minutes left to play. Wells would continue onto the 78-68 victory.
