KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost on Thursday to the visiting Alfred State Pioneers 75-74 in a non-conference matchup at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Keuka College (5-6, 3-1 NEAC) was lead senior Cliff Stevens who had 13 points and seven rebounds. Trevor Powell had all 12 of his points in the second half and he was followed by Sam Brown with 11 points on Thursday.
Alfred State 75 at Keuka College 74
It was a back and forth first half between Keuka and Alfred State. Both teams shot the ball evenly as the Wolves shot 41.4% from the field and the Pioneers shot 44.4%. Both teams struggled at the free throw line as the Wolves were 3-7 and the Pioneers made only a pair in six attempts. Cliff Stevens lead the way for the Wolves with 6 points at the half. Keuka College finished the half strong as Dylan Doupe got an offensive rebound and put it back as time expired to give Keuka a 33-27 lead over Alfred State at the half.
Keuka College came out strong in the second half as they extended their halftime lead to 40 -31 with 16:18 left in the half. The Wolves were able to maintain the lead for the majority of second half behind Trevor Powell's 12 second-half points but the Pioneers did not go away. Alfred State fought back and cut the lead to 3 with 1:59 remaining and eventually tied the game with 1:19 left. The Pioneers made a layup with 22 seconds left to take a 75-74 lead over Keuka College. The Wolves had their attempt in the final seconds blocked as they would fall to Alfred State on Thursday.
