Monarchs Defeat Wolves 5-2 in Field Hockey

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost on Tuesday night in Pennsylvania to King's College by the score of 5-2 in a non-conference game.

Keuka College (2-10, 1-1 NEAC) received goals from Taylor Lessard and Alysa Maddaleno. Maddaleno also assisted on Lessard's goal.

The Monarchs controlled the play early on Tuesday with most of the action coming in the Keuka end. Kings College broke through in the 19th minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Wolves. They would grow that lead out to 3-0 in the first half before the Wolves got one back just before the break. Alysa Maddaleno sent a cross in with 59 seconds left in the first half. Her cross was hit home by Taylor Lessard to make it a 3-1 game at the half.

The beginning of the second half featured some back and forth play before the Wolves made it a one-goal game. Madison St. Onge set up Alysa Maddaleno for the goal to make it 3-2 with just under 25 minutes left in the game. However, the Monarchs reestablished the two-goal lead 1:26 later and added a goal in the final minutes to defeat Keuka College 5-2 on Tuesday.

Coming up for Keuka College: The Green and Gold return home on Thursday to host St. John Fisher College at 4pm. The Cardinals are currently ranked #20 in the NFHCA Division III Poll.
