Wilson Scores Two as Wolves Win in Overtime

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Freshman Nicole Wilson scored 7:23 into the first overtime period as Keuka College defeated Drew University 2-1 on Saturday.

Wilson scored both goals in the game for Keuka College (1-3, 0-0 NEAC). Both assists on the goal came from Alyssa Orsino and Kassidy Valentine made 5 saves in goal for Keuka.

The first half was held at an even 0-0 for the first 15 minutes. The Wolves struck first 17:50 into the matchup as a rebounded shot from Alyssa Orsino was brought home by Nicole Wilson, putting the Wolves up 1-0.  Keuka College would hold off the Rangers for the rest of the first half taking the 1-0 lead into halftime.

After a show of defense by both teams in the second half, Drew tied it up with just under 15 minutes left in regulation. The defense on both sides kept the game tied for the remainder of the second half to end the half tied at 1-1 going into overtime.

The Wolves took the victory in overtime with a goal by Nicole Wilson with 7:37 left in the first overtime period.  The assist was off a pass from Alyssa Orsino, this was the pair's second goal scoring play of the game. Orsino found Wilson with a long pass to the front of the goal and Wilson did the rest to give Keuka the victory.

KC Notes:

  • The win was Keuka College's first victory over Drew University in program history. The Rangers defeated the Wolves in New Jersey last season
  • Keuka College is now 2-1 all-time in games that go to overtime
  • It was the first time in program history that they had two assists in a game
  • Nicole Wilson scored the first two goals of her career. It was the first time a Keuka College player has scored two goals at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex

Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves travel to Juniata College on Saturday, September 16. The Eagles defeated the Wolves 5-0 last season in Keuka Park.
