Wolves Prepare for Season Three of eSports

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The 2018-19 edition of the Keuka College eSports team is set to debut on Tuesday and will look unlike any previous version of the team.

For the first time, the Keuka College eSports team will compete as a part of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC). The conference announced sponsorship of an intercollegiate eSports league in the fall. Keuka College's primary game, League of Legends, will be a part of the sponsored games in the ECAC.

The ECAC eSports will feature online competition this fall and then culminate with the ECAC eSports Championship which will be a part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament at the Albany Capital Center in March 2019.

Leading the Keuka College eSports program this season will be Head Coach Dr. Josh Staley. Dr. Staley came to Keuka College over the summer as an Assistant Professor of Psychology. "I have been gaming for about 30 years," said the new head coach. "I enjoy the modern eSports scene. I believe that eSports is an important part to collegiate experience for scholar-athletes as it allows them to compete and grow, sharing their passion in a professional intercollegiate environment."

Keuka College will enter a pair of teams in the League of Legends competition this fall. The Wolves will open the season on Tuesday as the Keuka College Green team faces Moravian College while the Keuka College Gold team has a showdown with Stevenson University.
