The Keuka College Cheerleaders took home a first place finish in the Collegiate Coed – Division 2 and 3 category at the Battle at the Capitol cheerleading competition in National Harbor, Maryland this weekend.
The Keuka College Competition Cheerleading took their talents to the Battle at the Capitol cheerleading competition in National Harbor, MD this weekend. The two-day competition resulted in a first place finish in the Collegiate Coed – Division 2 and 3 category. Moravian College's All Girl – Division 2 and 3 team topped the overall collegiate category, edging out the Wolves by a mere 0.525.
The Wolves put out a strong Day 1 performance, despite minor stunting mistakes totaling in 2.75 in deducted points. Their raw score of 93.83 was higher that Moravian's 93.23, but Moravian only faced 1.25 in deductions on Day 1, giving them a slight lead over the Wolves. Keuka College earned a perfect score in difficulty and technique in the Toss category, a 9.7 in the pyramid category, and a 9.6 out of 10 in the dance category on Day 1.
The competition was fierce on Day 2, with both teams finishing their routines with 0.0 in deduction points. The Wolves increased their score by nearly 3 points, finishing with a 93.87. They maintained a perfect Toss score, while seeing improvements in Stunt Technique and Performance, but also saw minor decreases in Jump Technique and Standing Tumbling Technique.
Overall the Wolves had a solid weekend. They look to build more difficulty before they take the mat again at the Upstate Collegiate Championship at Elmira College on March 10.
