Keuka College Tops NEAC with 110 Scholar-Athletes

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. — The North Eastern Athletic Conference announced its Scholar-Athletes for the 2017-18 academic year and for the second-straight year, Keuka College led the list.

Keuka College led the NEAC with 110 Scholar-Athletes, 18 more than the second-best school in the conference. It is up nearly 30% from the 85 Wolves earning Scholar-Athlete honors in 2016-17.

To earn North Eastern Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete, the student-athlete needs to maintain a 3.40 combined grade point average or higher for the fall and spring semesters.

As a department, Keuka College posted a 3.09 grade point average. Factoring in non-NEAC sports, Keuka totaled 127 Scholar-Athletes on the year with 37% of the athletes recording over a 3.40 GPA for the year.

The members of the cross country teams led the department grades for the Wolves. The Women's Cross Country team had a school-best 3.56 GPA while leading the department with 16 Scholar-Athlete selections, 70% of their roster. Right behind them was the Men's Cross Country team with a 3.48 GPA. '

Five Wolves earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the academic year. Cross country runners Bayli Fugle, Colin Marchincin, and Bethany Pendl all posted perfect grade point averages. Joining them was goalie Ryan Mavretish from the Men's Soccer and Men's Lacrosse teams as well as junior setter Alyssa Rex from Women's Volleyball. Both Pendl and Rex have maintained a perfect grade point average throughout her first three years at Keuka College while Fugle has a perfect 4.0 throughout her first two years on campus.
